is my muffler weird??? i need opinions!!

ok i've tried typing this 2 times now and when i'm just about done, i go linkdead and gotta do it again. TWICE now. just had to vent a little.
Here's the issue: I just got an HKS "Hiper" muffler, 90mm inlet 96mm tip. looks a whole hell of a lot like the apexi N1 style muffler. Anyway, this is my experience.
when my engine is cold or has been idle for a good while like 15-20 mins, my exhaust sounds like S**T!!!!! But after getting the engine good and warm, and not only that, but only after revving it good a couple times (making the muffler itself hot) it sounds AWESOME!! but if I let it sit for a while, even with the car running at idle for 10-15 mins (muffler cools at idle) it is back to sounding s**tty until i rev it up a few times getting it hot. Keep in mind i did not physically touch the muffler to make these muffler temp judgements but I'm fairly sure. What I want to know is WHY THE HELL DOES IT DO THAT?? I didn't buy a muffler to sound like s*** unless ive been drving for more than 15 mins. granted it isnt THAT big of a deal, but it is enough to piss me off. Does anyone else have a similar experience? it is just my muffler or is this fairly normal? if it doesn't sound normal could it possibly be just a f***ed muffler? It is so odd.
OH YEAH! to describe the sound a little: when it is cold/s****y sounding, it is just raspy as hell and for lack of a better word, crackly. but when it is sounding awesome/hot, the "raspiness" and "crackliness" is gone and it just sounds like a good little import with an aftermarket exhaust. WHY!!!!!!! sorry if none of this makes sense, its late...and i'm bitter about it...

yeah my exhaust does that too, only I have full piping with no resonator, when I just had the muffler there was no rasp at all, but ever since i got the full exhaust it rasps for about 5 mins then goes away. i really dont care that it does this, when people here that in the first 5 mins of start up or so they think my car is a slow heap.. which is oh so far from the truth hahah. anyway, lates.<p>[ August 03, 2003: Message edited by: thebonestockkid ]</p>

mine sounds great all the time.
I can't immagine why yours would sound different from time to time.

I don't know about mine, but when I am just driving and my foot is off the acclerator it makes like a bloom bloom bloom sound untill it is I acclerate again. I mean I don't know if you will understand this. I have a ac revolution muffler. I was thinking about changing it because of the sound it puts out.

I think the "bloom bloom bloom" sound you are talking about is just because of pipe size isnt it? If the sound you're talking about is what I'm thinking it is, mine began doing exactly that when i went to 2.25in cat-back (when i had muffler installed)... i just attributed the sound to the large pipe size...

mine does it, but its got the stock pipe so its not all that loud
