The solonoid on the firewall has two hoses comming out of it , one goes to the charcoal canister , but where does the other go?

Its dark outside, so I'm not looking at the car, but the manual shows it goes to the inlet manifold. It's the Purge Control Solenoid Valve. Basically, the engine sucks vapour from the charcoal canister when the ECU opens the valve. If you didn't have that inlet to the manifold connected up, you would have a large vacuum leak. But that wouldn't make the engine race; the opposite, I think.
