1-10
depends on your skill, having all parts, tools, and research done in advance. It can be as easy as 2-4 to as difficult as 7-10.

Re: Got my 2.5L v6 tonight
I'd give it a 3 or so and it was my first swap and I did it with one other friend who also never did a swap before. You can and should swap the exhaust manifold until you can get the 2.5 exhaust manifold to a shop to get shortened. I don't know if having a 1.8L exhaust mani. on a 2.5L exhaust manifold would kill performance but I guess I'll find out when I get the 2.5L manifold put on properly. Anyone have any thoughts if putting the 2.5 manifold is actually worth it? They both looked very similar in size but the 1.8 is alot shorter. Everything can be swapped over from the 1.8. You basically just plug everything back in and attach all the bolts back up. Also be careful dropping it in because if you thought clearance on the 1.8 was tight just imagine the little bit of room after you drop the new engine, mainly because of the intake manifold. Good luck, with mechanics who do swaps on the regular it could be maybe 2 days at most. You'll enjoy the new engine and its good for boosting in the future...thats what I'm hoping will be done on mine by summer '04.

Re: Got my 2.5L v6 tonight
I actually compared the two exhaust manifolds and our 1.8 manis have a bigger opening then the 2.5 mani (from a 2.5 probe). - I just kept my 1.8L - just have to cut it and weld it back on with the right angle.

You shouldn't have to cut or weld anything.

I didnt have to weld anything to get my 1.8 exhaust manifold on. Are you sure you're not thinking of the 2.5 manifold?? Thats the one that needs to be cut and welded.

even if you have hardly any experience as a mechanic, you should be able to pull this swap off in about 3 days time.

Re: Got my 2.5L v6 tonight
replace all the belts, especially theres timing belts on ebay all the time for like $9, water pump, fuel filter, most hoses, pcv valve, gaskets that look suspicious/leaky. port and polish your intake manifold if you've got extra $$ and get bigger throttle body (65mm)
