92/93/94 V6???

Ok, So I'm selling my 93 Probe GT with the KL03 engine in it. Looking a lot at MX3s and I've sort of got my sights set on a 94 MX3 GS with 62K on it. Gorgeous car... <P>Questions though..<P>Do all MX3 V6s have the KL engine? The one that is smaller in size, but identical to the MX6 and Probe engine? The reason I ask is because that engine only came in my car from 93+... But, in the MX3s, does it come in the 92 also??<P>I've decided 94 is the best year due to interior change, but I want to know from all of you owners, mechanically and overall which year is the best??<P>Thanks

NO they don't. If the engine is a KL one it has been swapped in. The 92, 93 and 94 V6 MX-3's have the K8 1.8L V6 cousin of the KL.<P>All the MX-3's I've had have been 93 models and have been reliable.

The MX-3 GS engine code is the K8DE. It is a K series V6 just like the KLDE in the Probe GT 93-97. It swaps right into the MX-3, using the stock tranny, sensors and manifold. You CAN use a manifold from a japanese Eunos 800 which has larger square runners but a curved neck after the TB for more flow.

Ok guys....<P>So the K8DE is the stock V6 engine in all MX3s, even teh 92? Weird because they didn't introduce the KL03 into the Probes/MX6s until 93...<P>Also, the KL03, or KLZE can be dropped into an MX3 without a replacement transmission? The stock MX3 transmission will work with a KL03 or KLZE?? Hmm, thats very cool........

Yes the K8 was in the 92's and the K8 tranny will bolt right up to a KL or KL-ZE.
