Those direct fit air filters from K&N are alright and you'll be lucky to feel any difference at all, but I agree with Maddbuck that you should get the PRM intake. I have the PRM right now, and there is a noticeable difference.

the prm is more than an air filter that goes into the stock box, right? that is what he is asking about, no?

Its not just an air filter. Its a cold air intake system and you would have to take the stock air box out and replace the whole thing. I'll look for a link with pics for you.

hey guys! I want to know about a replacement filter for the stock air box! But does the PRM use a lot more gas I usually get 240 miles out of my tank until the light comes on with a combo of highway and city driving but how much more gas would i use with the PRM intake.

hey, they use km in ireland, not miles. right??!!
anyway, go to the k&n site - lots of good info. i have a k&n in my car. they are suppossed to up the hp by about 6, i think. they let in lots more air- made of cloth not paper & need to be cleaned and oiled. they have a million mile warranty. in western canada they go for about $90.cdn.

You can call them at 905-939-2830. Sorry, I don't know the code for the US.
By the way, a clean air filter of any kind won't make you use more gas. A dirty air filter of any kind will.
K&Ns, PRMs, all of the ones that are reusable and oiled will need relatively frequent cleaning to be effective filters.

On the PRM, I have been told by many that it's the best they've had. I agree, but if you don't want to spend that much money do NOT simply replace the filter in the airbox, just get an open element filter, sure it will get heat from the engine, but it has a bigger volume of air to grab from. Using the stock air box is limiting it from getting much air cause it's up against the hood, so a replacement filter won't get you a noticable difference. Can't remember how the box was cause I haven't seen onw in a while, but if you can then just take off the top of the box so the filter shows openly and you or a friend can hold it down and then rev the engine, should rev a little faster and get a little more sound. Then you can decide if just getting an open element filter is enough, cause that's pretty much how it will act.
