Exhaust Restrictions?

I've been doing my homework on MX-3's since i'm rather new, and i stumbled across a page that had dyno's of stock exhaust vs. a 2.5-inch mandrel bent cat back (it could have been 2.25, not that i think about it). anyway, the dyno showed a 1hp improvement. the auther concluded that exhaust is not a very effective mod on mx-3's. on the other hand, a post in this forum mentioned huge gains by removing or replacing the catalytic converter. were these gains made with stock exhaust or with larger tubing? is the cat enough of a bottleneck that it negates the effect of larger pipes behind it? i'd like to know what results people have had with these mods...thanks.

I hollowed out my cat..it sounds nicer and seems to have a little more pick up, but nothing drastic<P>------------------<BR>~'94 GS (Creek Blue Mica)
