Voice Activated MP3 Player

Post by gueedo »

A friend of mine and I are going to be putting in a voice activated mp3 player that we're making from a computer, a microphone, winamp and an LCD screen. Here's what the LCD looks like when in operation:
Image
When it's done I'll post pics of it and the custom made winamp plugin and voice activation software for download. You can get the LCD from Electronics Information Online. It is the 4x20 screen.

that lcd display looks great. is that going to replace your entire headunit entirely? or just an accessory thing to add to your system?

It's actually going to go into the little area under the head unit.
Kuruption: It's not cheaper. I've got the whole system for $40-$50 US, $20 of which were for the LCD. The software actually responds to your commands. It's a female voice that says "Waiting" and "Command Acknowleged", among other things. All the software was developed by a friend of mine for a science fair project. He got second or third place in the state (Virginia) 2 years ago for it. Also, the Voice recognition only works for winamp, I think. I'll check with my friend to make sure.
[ December 09, 2002: Message edited by: MikeX-3 ]
