Tweeter install

Post by BumpNGlow »

Ok, so I am finally breaking down and installing tweeters and components... I originally wanted to get some .75 or .5" tweeters that I could put in the sail panel next to the side mirrors. Unfortunately, the ones I am buying from my friend are oversized 1" tweets w/o a flush mount kit. Where can I put them to sound good(but may not be permenant -- I have decided yet)?
Pics help a lot.

What's the frequency and order of your cross-overs for the tweeter and door?
Do you have 'kicks' or just the factory speaker location?
The suggested difference between speakers depends on a number of factors, but is intended to minimize the phase difference, and intensity differences.
If you use really high order crossovers, you can pretty much mount them coaxial (provided the tweat can take the spl), or equidistant from your ear.
For a 1st order crossover put the tweat so that the distance form your ear to the tweat is about 1/4 of the wavelength closer to your ears than the distance from ear to Mid.

all I am asking is where did everyone else put their tweets? I am not gonna put them like they are co-axils... thats ugly as hell. I wanted to get some good 3/4" tweets and put them in the sail panels on the doors.... but I don't think 1" will fit.

anyone got a more "custom" idea? I want something, "not so easy" to try. I am not a SQ guy, but I want my tweeters to look like they aren't stock.
I am gonna run up to my stereo shop tomorrow anways just to return something... the head installer there is a HUGE SQ competitor, so I will talk to him if he isn't busy.

I've seen them in the vents on a lot of different cars. Never seen it done on an mx-3 yet tho. :)
