much more go fast potential and dont have the traction probs our cars have since they are FWD, but i wouldnt trade, a eclipse is a dime a dozen, a MX-3 is something rare

If you want a fast car, AWD, huge aftermarket support, etc, get the DSM.

If you want a unique car that is (IN MY OPINION) more reliable and better looking, stay with the MX. Simple as that.

DSM = not so reliable. plus like many have said, the mx-3 looks better! I wouldn't do it (even with the aftermarket support), but that's me. i have a friend who used to have an eclipse (not a GSX) and it was a huge POS.

Consider this: with my MX-3 I really enjoy not having to worry about crankwalk! :D I wouldn't give up that piece of mind.

If it were me and the price difference is negligable I would definitely get the eclipse. There are probably more mx-3s up here than eclipses. To me this is a no-brainer (as much as I like mx-3s).

if it was stock gs and stock gsx id take gsx, faster, and it is RELIABLE. all this bs about unreliability of DSM is BULL, ive owned eclipse and its nice car, reliable economic.

Dsm's are a good car, espically the 1st gen motors, almost indestructable. short story
somehow the throttle cable got stuck on somehting in the engine bay at wot hitting 20 psi, tried to turn car off but turbo timer came on (ebrake was on 1 click) turned the car off, you could almost see thru the manifold thats how hot it was, we let it cool down checked the oil, surprisnly it started right back up, got it home and had to redo the manifold gasket, suprised he didnt crack the mani. if i can get a scanner i will post the pic.

Keep the mx-3 as your daily driver and look nice car and buy the eclipse and make it a sleeper. But thats my opinion

DSM's are pieces of crap. They are nice cars but they run into problems all the time. I guess that goes for any older car but DSM are not that reliable. I have a friend with a 97 GST and his brother has a 98 GST and both of their cars are garaged 1/4 of the time they are driving. They are daily drivers and are not abused as much as you might think. I guess you wont have to worry about putting tons of miles on your car if it is broken down.....

P.S- I am just trying to give you my 2 cents. Its not my money or my time....Do what you want. :)

I just drove a 99 eclipse non turbo today. It was imported from the US and I was disappointed. It was slow and I would never trade my mx for it ever. It had intake exhaust and headers. It looked nice though cause it had OZ rims and a kit but had no fun factor compared to the mx.

I almost bought a 91 GSX over my MX-3. It was way faster and alreayd had been upgraded and everything. Would have got it ready to roll for about $3250. I got my MX-3 instead for $800 and dropped $3250 into it to get it running and looking good. So its all up to you man. I love DSM's but MX-3's are sweet.
