Splurge on a new axle. It's $60 with a $45 core charge at AutoZone. I imagine that you are going to need to scrape off a lot rust all over the place because I just finished the same job on my '92 but most of my trouble came with putting the axel back in. I recommend that you check your local library for a book titled "What Auto Mechanics Don't Want You to Know." That should be the title or close to it. According to the author's knowledge and the steps that he lays out, you probably could have taken your repair shop to court and saved yours...

They're making a lot of money off of you. I replaced my passenger-side axle for $60(U.S.) with a $45 core charge. It is quite simple and it will require that you get slightly intimate with your car... By that I mean that you will have to jack her up; take off her tire; take off her hub-nut; take off...

So far, we have taken out the battery setup, air intake, almost anything and everything that's in the way of the tranny/transaxle; drained it, and unbolted the tie rod ends. We're looking at the strut assembly and axles and wondering what to do next. I am definitely looking for the same information ...

What is the best product to use when raising a '92 4cyl MX3? I want to avoid the tragedy that occured when my last MX3 slid under a Dodge Durango and my engine just ate his tow-hitch. Is there a solution to this situation?
