definitely K&N filters, they had a flow display at the local canadian tire and the flow rates for these filters are huge, i also put one on my car and can constantly hear it sucking air and sometimes it even makes a whistling sound like a turbo.

well, theres nothing you can do about the oil consumption really, the V6 K series engines are prone to oil consumption, dont worry about it cuz your engine will run for as long as you keep the oil topped up, just remember to do it! i lose about a litre every 1000kms, and my engine still pulls strong...

black smoke is too much fuel being burnt, blue smoke means that you are burning oil, have you noticed your gas mileage going down? if not, then its probably oil, and if its oil, dont worry about it because just about every other V6 mx3 burns some oil.
