This time I mean it.....

Post by Spydie »

Well I've flirted with the idea of selling my MX about 6 times before only to chicken out, run to the car shed some tears and carress it saying "I'm sorry....let's never split up again."
Well this time it's for real. I put the ad in the Auto trader yesterday so no turning back now.
I have a few bugs to fix before I sell it but whoever takes it is getting a sweet project to finnish. I was hoping to get all this work done myself but I decided I've had enough of sports cars. I took a good long look at where my life is and is going and decided to do the "responsible thing".

Is someone forcing you into this? NEVER confuse getting rid of a car you love as the "responsible thing"! Just stop dumping every last penny you have into it (which was my particular problem with my Rx7 collection), and keep it as a daily driver the way it is (which already sounds pretty impressive). Just use restraint not to keep dumping more and more money into it. Cars arent irresponsible, the owners are! You've got a hell of a list of goodies, I say keep 'em and be happy. Unless you're just bored with it......

I'm forcing myself to do this....
I've grown quite weary of the sportscar life. I love the attention the car gets...LOVE IT.
but I'm sick of storing it winters, freaking out when I see a new scratch, negotiating what roads I can and can't drive on, and so on. I accept that as much as I love this car .....it's just a car. And for me it's just not practical to keep.
And yes I freely admit I've made some irresponsible financial decisions where my MX3 is concerned....which I'm bailing out of NOW.
In the future I can alway buy another one, but why would I? each one seems to have its own personality, and I don't think I could ever replace mine with another.
hmmm..I think I'll get a big truck.

I doubt you'd be able to even use these injectors....they are very large....and only 4 of them. They came with the Greddy injector harness.

Now, if you plan on selling your car.. but wish to keep it.. now, drop those restrictions!
The Mx-3 is a great car in rock road.. Almost if it was design for rally at first.. In my town, I have made quite a few runs into the wood.. Only dust fall on the car.
A scratch can be corrected, and repainted..
Winter could be beat by treatement..
I must say, the idea to hide the car in the winter is still in my head..
But my Girlfriend made me realize, it is just a car.. and then begin my painful return to reality.. Jeez, that car saved me from depression.. well, my time investment in that little car made me forget trouble I had, and let me fix them afterward..
Something you could try :
-Do not wash the car for a whole month.. See if you can resist the temptation
-Do long run with your car, I'm speaking 2000kms and more! in less then a week..
The Mx-3 is a great car for excitement, and travel.. Use those personnality to your gain!

I am impressed with all the sad faces and advice over my decision, makes me feel important, and good about the work I've done....but.....does anyone want to buy it? Or is everyone a shrink? I can appreciate the mourners, lol, as in those who know me and know my car, but it's time, and that's all.

Hey Darren-- You wouldn't be intersted in parting with that oh-so-sweet wrap-around precedia rear spoiler, would you??
I will send you a hatch garnish and an aluminum GT wing for it!
LOL-- I know, I know-- you took your Aluminum wing off already...

( It was worth a try-- and I AM SERIOUS!!)
