So I have not started my mx3 for almost a year, went to fire her up.and she was dead. Tried to boost the battery but it would not hold a charge, so I bought a new battery. Came home installed it fired right up. Shut off the car went to grab some cleaning supplies to give her a wash, tried to start it again and it would only crank but would not fire up. In the past I have had issues with my fuel gauge sticking so I went to grab some gas to prove that I had fuel. Tried to start it again...no luck. So I tried checking to hear the fuel pump kick on...couldn't here it. I also checked for spark...no spark.. so I checked all the fuses and found only one burnt out it was for head?? So I put in another fuse... no luck. Can't seem to figure out why it started so easy 1 minute that 5 minutes later no luck. What happend to my fuel and spark?? Any ideas what else I should look at?

I'd check your disty and the crank sensor to start with. Do you have the external coil and hei mod done?

Agree, check the disty first.

The internal coil often fails on these cars. Since they dont use a waste spark system its still heavily reliant on a distributor for ignition timing. A work around if your patient and savy is the external coil conversion. I did this with my car, it fixed the tachometer, misfire, and gave me better gas mileage, also didn't have to worry about having to wiggle the coil to get it to start.. a very reliable solution.
