I'm going to school this September for automotive mechanic.
I own a 94 gs. Engine seems to be in good shape with 175k on the body and engine and the clutch is dying. I seem to have an issue with my rear back tire as well, almost sound like something is hitting my tire or something.
Back to the point, I'm not sure if I should change the clutch and just leave it, or change the engine as well to the klze. From my understanding the change will cost roughly 1 grand, I'll be doing th labour (first time ever doing this). I'm jus tot sure if it's worth it for my car. It does have two huge rust holes and the body does have a decent amount of dinks in it.
What should I look over to help me better judge if it's worth it?
clutch is dying. new engine or what?

Although I haven't done a swap, from what I've read researching it will likely cost your more like 1.5-2k for the entire swap. You have to factor in tons of other little parts that will need to be replaced at the same time. I'd search around more, a lot of people have posted their cost breakdown.

Indeed, typically KLZE runs for around $800 that in itself

Difficult to say without seeing what your working with. But here's my two cents.
You want to be an auto mechanic. This is a fairly easy engine swap, but it does have enough little issues to keep it interesting. So from a learning standpoint it's a great first step experience with modern vehicle systems.
Because your a student and cost may be an issue and because the car has rust holes and that means there's plenty of rust that you cant see maybe you should consider a domestic market 2.5 pulled from a local salvage yard instead. It would be much cheaper and it would still make the car more fun to drive.

Re: clutch is dying. new engine or what?
How about you just put a clutch in it? Your motors fine, use the money for the tires and rust issues first, then worry about speed unless you have a second DD car you havent told us about. If this is your first time wrenching on this car you will find it more enjoyable if you approach a feasable job first rather than one that will lead you to headaches that you are not prepared for.

Rust sucks. Change the clutch. ONLY. This way you will only be doing what you HAVE to do and if you get stuck any garage can finish the work. Stuck means - lack of tools, rust issues resulting in rounded bolts, etc.
All these things will need to be done for an engine swap but this way you are getting experience before you commit more money than you must.
