For rainy weather, and leaky seals..

Post by fowljesse »

My car leaks somewhere. I haven't found where, yet, and I live in rain. I have a car cover, but I haven't used it for years, because I don't want to put a soaking wet car cover inside my car. I finally came up with the solution when I got my sleeping bag back that I forgot about.
This sleeping bag has a compression sack, so that you can stuff it in, and then cinch it down with 4 straps. Now, I roll the cover to one end of the car, then roll the roll again, stuff it in the bag, and cinch it down. The bag is water tight :-)
Also, I have clips that hold the cover to the underside edges of the bumpers, and pinch seams under the sides.

Sounds like a chore. Where does it leak at? Would be easier to find a leak and fix it. Is there water on the floor, seats, etc? Perhaps you can get helper and wash your car with hose/pressure washer as you sit inside and inspect for leaks.

I have had the interior out, including headliner and pillar covers. I've cleaned out the sunroof lines, and inspected everything. Someone who had the car before, cut away the outside of the windshield rubber. I think that's part of it. Also, my fiberglass hatch doesn't fit well. One ay, I'll take it all apart, again, and maybe use pressurized smoke to find the leaks. For now, this solution is feasible, and keeps the car clean. It take about 3 minutes total, and keeps people from seeing my stereo.
Sorry for the spelling. My phone is being ornery.

For my leaky sunroof(drain clogged, had the hardest time cleaning the front passenger side out, it's still semi clogged!!), I started parking on a slight slope... The water travels "downhill" to the left side drains now. :freak:
