Rear tie-bar removal

I found a GS at the local junkyard that still had the rear tie bar, so I want to grab it for my RS. However, the entire bolt spins as I try to take the nuts off. I don't want to clamp down on the threads to hold the bolt from spinning but I can't find any other place to hold it. For you guys with more experience with this, how do you stop the bolt from spinning? I was hoping there was an allen key receptacle like on an end-link, but no luck :crying:

ill take this one fellas,

When you remove it you will need 2 wrenchs or socket wrenches or a combo of the two. You see the obvious bolts on the front side of the subframe but on the other side of the sub frame are bolts you need to hold with your other tool. Get under and look as your turning and you will see which ones

There should be a half round rubber cap covering the bolt head on the adjacent side (or the front of the bolt).

D'oh. I saw the cap, but I didn't even think to try to pull it off. Don't I feel silly.

I'll admit a little faux pas I made a week ago, if it makes you feel better.

I swapped my radiator fill cap out, because the old one had cracked rubber, and I happened to have a spare. It turns out I wasn't paying the best attention, and put in a lower pressure cap, without the spring loaded seal.

I mistakenly thought I had a coolant leak for a while... Then pulled out my radiator and tested everything else in the system. Turns out, I'm an idiot.
