K8 TOT57071 Distributor Coil - Resistance

Hello friends!

I am just repairing my distributor and I have ordered and received Beck&Arnley disty coil. I was so happy until the moment I took multimeter in my hands. It seems like the new coil has double of resistance of the old one, which only was present in newer distributors. Checked the compatibility again and they say it is compatible with 1992-1993 GS. But these years have TOT57071 distys with lower resistance coil (primary and secondary winding).

So my question is - can I use the new coil in my old dusty or would it damage something, would it work with igniter properly or with any other parts of the disty?

Thank you so much for opinions and help.

Steve

TOT57072 is a newer coil and is a direct replacement for the TOT57071. So go ahead and knock yourself out. Usually it's the ignitor that fries and I haven't seen that sold any where. You could do a HEI mod and save yourself future head aches. http://www.mx-3.com/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?f=23&t=53706
