Speedo cable Issues?

I have been researching this for awhile. Today I finally got my car insured, inspected and plates. Also today when I started up my car to take it for inspection I noticed the speedometer isn't working. So i checked all my fuses and ruled that out. Only thing left would be the speedo cable or the drive gear in the tranny. So I took my cluster apart , unhooked all the harnesses, When I unhooked the cable there was no pin connecting the cable to the cluster just the rubber cable with a hole in it.

Did the pin simply fall out? I was reading and found out they are commonly one solid pin so did it break?

so yeah, as you found out, the speedo is a mechanical speedometer because your's in a 93 so fuses and stuff won't affect your speedo at all.

It sounds like your pin thing broke so getting one from the junkyard is your best bet, you can grab one from a 323 as well if your JY doesn't have a mx-3.
This is a generic picture but this is generally what your cable should look like inside.

so yeah, if you don't have the little metal rod/pin thing there won't be anything to spin the mechanism in your speedometer, thus it won't work.

An issue i had that you shouldn't have is that the cable is barely long enough to reach so when i first installed it i had it stretched out too far and the pin didn't catch i guess so it didn't work, i solved it by routing the cable a different path. The reason you shouldn't have this problem is because i have a BP-T AND you have a 93 which is ment to have a mechanical speedo cable, my 94 dash is electric so i had to mod it a little bit to route the cable.

Hope this helped even a little

Thanks Evo! That pretty much sums it all up for me :] If the pin broke is it possible for it to fall inside the cable? because i can't seam to find it.

I have learned , it was un-pluged. It also looks cut where the cable meets the cable to the gear. The cable is hollow so looks like I got to go shopping.
