I feel like I just read a thread about this but I can't seem to find it... but anyways..

I just bought some rims that are like mint for $175 4 lug unitversal nippon racing 17x7 +45 offset

now I know they wouldn't fit but didn't care due to price and the rim style. So here my question how much spacer do I need and how much spacer and I get away with on the stock studs befor its "unsafe"

I figer im going to need at least a 10mm but 15mm might be better.. so give me your thoughts guys

Have you actually tried fitting them? I used to run 17x7.5 with offset of 45 and had no issues.

haha well... there's an idea for you then IIRC I ran 215/40/17 front and 205/40/17 rear

7" wheel with +45 offset will stick only 12 or so mm further inside and outside compared to the stock 6" +45mm offset. At the very most a 10mm spacer, but sounds like our cars have approx 1/2" clearance toward the inside of the hub. Sounds like you got a good deal.

I run 17x7 45ET with no issues. You could barely get a short curly hair between the tire and the strut on the front, but it doesn't rub.

ya wheels fit great! pics up in my work log. would i need to get extended studs for 10mm spacers or would 5mm be better on the stock lug nuts. I want the rims to stck out a litle more time for a fender roll

Take the wheel off, measure the stud length, measure how deep the wheel centre is, put the lug nut on the stud 6 turns and measure the difference this will give you the maximum amount of spacer you can have.

I have heard 3-5mm is ok on stock studs but it is worth checking for yourself!

at the moment i'm running 17x7 40et's with 3mm spacers(effectively 37et)) and i have about a pinky's width of room between the wheel and strut. i've got 5-6 threads currently so i wouldnt risk going any wider on the current studs.

me myself will be going big next spring and installing new hub centric spacers to correct the offset to 30 et front and 25et rear.
