ok guys i've read thru the sticky's and have purchased a few pieces and i just wanna verify whats left for me to pick up or be prepared for.

so i purchased a klde and 5 speed trans out of a bone stock 94 mx6, also have an msp lsd and speedo gear.
basically at this point we drained the gear oil and to my surprise didnt find any shavings or anything, took off the end cover and from what i can see trans looks to be in pretty good shape.

from what i've read if when i pull my trans apart and it is in fact 4.10 final drive i should be able to bolt in the msp lsd? diff is being welded a lil added strentgh.... what about cv axles?
will i need new ones?

and are there any other pieces i've neglected to order or just straight missed in the first place?

You will have to put your stock mounts onto the MX-6 tranny. You will also have to swap your reverse sensor on as the harness connector is different.

Yes the MSP LSD will slide right in if it is in fact a stock MX-6 tranny. I'm sure that it will be. the odds of the previous owner having swapped to a tranny with shorter final drive are pretty slim.

Your stock axles will be fine. The trannies are identical so there's not much to it.

thats pretty much what i got out of my searching as well, more or less just wanted to put it in my words and have someone agree to that lol.

i've had thoughts of adding a trans cooler/tilton pump setup, buddy had it on his boosted protege5 and it did wonders for keeping his temps more regulated, pretty trick set up on top of the reliabilty upgrade.

this has turned in to such a long drawn out build, was just supposed to be a DD but so much for that, hopefully i budgeted correctly and it'll be mechanically refreshed drivetrain wise in addition to the wytbushings that i'm picking up locally in a week or so. cant wait to feel what a proper car drives like again lol.

How do you cool trans fluid in a manual? It just circulates within itself and doesn't have anything to pump it through a cooler?

I'm not personally familliar with what he's referring to, but I'm betting it would include a little pump to circulate the fluid.

In my recent research I'm finding that most of the high end transmissions (Getrag, Quaife, Hewland) get some sort of cooling system installed when any sort of rebuild or upgrade is done.

in the bj protege world a lot of guys who track are running a small pump thru either a power steering style line bent in a U shape, so run a ebay style motor oil cooler. the diff and case will apparently love you for it. and i figured to myself why not add a bit of redundant insurance.
