1.8 power graph

Post by dang10010 »

Is there anywhere I can find a power graph giving hp and torque for the 1.8 engine?

I'd say another mod was a KLDE. 139hp at the wheels, when the stock motor puts down 130bhp...doesn't add up for a NA K8. maybe he was running a 50 shot.

Why do you say at the wheels? A lot of dynos in the Uk calculate/estimate flywheel horse power. Iirc it was just ihe, before he put his built engine in.

It's definitely not hard to imagine.

139 to the wheels is ~167 BHP taking a 17% loss through the drivetrain. G series trans seem closer to 15%, from what I've seen on ProbeTalk and elsewhere.

A DE in good condition would outperform that graph easily, without ANY mods.

For what it's worth, the dyno lists tire pressure... I'd assume it's a chassis dyno.

Not many bolt-on KL engines will touch 200 WHP... MegaSquirt or not. That's roughly 20% more power than the advertized 200 BHP a KL31 cam'd, Straightneck ZE with 10:1 CR puts out.

Turbo, 200 whp is easy. All motor, you're beyond the realm of bolt-ons, or you should be building race engines for a living.

Really?

Its a dyno plot. They are harder to get right than to fake. The curve may be close to the right shape, but the scale is almost meaningless unless you trust the person at the computer.

Another consideration that hadn't occurred to me... Thanks for pointing it out Ryan, that's valid.
