Seems strange the newbie post is wayyyyy down the page, but I guess that keeps the riff raff to a minimum. ;^)
Anyways, the reason I'm here is my neighbor bought a '93 MX3 V6 with 5 speed for $1600 a couple months ago and it suddenly started burning a lot of oil (it has 244,000 miles but still runs good)
Looking for pointers or maybe someone that has a motor. She posted it on CL for $600 but only idiots and scrap car haulers have called offering $350 or less. Sucks she was taken in as she needed it to go to and from appointments.

I forgot to add most of my Mazda experience is with early rotaries, GLCs and diesel pickups.

I would look for an oil leak on the engine somewhere, perhaps around the oil filter sandwich? What makes you think its burning oil? Does it smoke, are the plugs oil fouled?
