1.6 SOHC Disributor 180 off?

Ok, so I've gone and put a 1.6 SOHC into my MX3 while I'm building my BP up.
The B6 came from a running but wrecked mx3. There was a crack in the distributor so I trashed it and bought one off eBay. I lined up the timing marks, and went to install the distributor. When I got it in it was pointing directly opposite the #1 cylinder. The distributor can only mount in one direction. Rotating the rotor goes by 120 degree. So I'd be 180 off, 60 off, 60 past...

I can't seem to figure out how to get this installed and working.

Also since I know you're going to be the first to reply to this.. Hi Ryan!

Edit****
Looks like the distributor was off a 90-94 323.

There can be a couple problems here. I have both a 92 Mx-3 and 323. And depending on which year disty you have, is the problem. I know when I looked at both my distys, the Mx-3 had 4 wires going to the disty while the 323 only had 3 wires. Then the spot the rotor goes was different too. On my Mx-3, the rotor only went 1 way. But on my 323, the rotor could go on 3 ways.

First thing I would do is look at the plug on the disty and see if you need 3 or 4 wire adapter plugged in. Then if you can adjust the rotor around, that may work. Or get an actual 92/93 Mx-3 disty.

The wiring plug is the same for both the distributor and the wiring harness.

At this point, I've done more research and the part numbers from the 323 and mx3 B6 motors don't match up. Looks like eBay fu#!ed me. The entire thing appears to be 180 off of where it needs to be. I've disassembled the distributor and verified it's not put together incorrectly. The entire thing just appears to be 180 off by design.

The picture shows what 3 positions are available on the distributor I bought (in red) and the blue shows where it should be...

I can't really afford a new distributor right now, I thought I was getting lucky with the eBay one.

So I got a distributor from PicknPull this weekend off a 93 SOHC. When I got home I compared them side by side and they are exactly 180 different. Put the new distributor on and she started right up.

Now that she's running, I have transmission issues :)

The distributor off a 1990-94 Mazda 323 1.6 SOHC will not work in a 1992-93 Mazda MX3 1.6 SOHC. Fact.
