How come I see so many different balljoints?

At Rockauto.com I can find them from 11 $ up to on ebay for 60 and mazdadealer probably higher.

Many different brands like Moog, ACDeleco, SAE, Beck Arnley

Why so many differences ? and what to choose?

Just beware of the stud diameter changes. Aside from that, its my personal belief that a ball joint is a ball joint, and MOOG is crap.

Rock Auto offers a choice (which is nice) from el cheapos to higher quality parts. Most manufacturers offer value prices parts (for selling your car with) to quality parts if you'd like the part to last more than 1 year.

What is this based on? I have Moog and they can be re-greased...

This is the key thing to know about ball joints for the MX-3: There are 2 different sizes (at least in the US, not sure about international including Canada).

Here are pics and part numbers for the Moog ones:

All the Moog parts I've bought (granted they were the economy line) have blue boots on them, and they tear in a few weeks....

Hmmm mine say AC Delco and they have blue boots on them... I have not installed them yet I hope they do not tear like that.

I think there is only a couple of manufactures selling other companies the same parts.

Why have I never had to replace any of this? :? Aside from bushings that are crumbling into dust, my suspension appears fine. I found my mystery "squeak" is my hatch again, btw. I need to source the "new" hinge, and probably throw some sort of rubber padding in to help silence it.

I just bought the Moogs... Lets see if they brake soon.

My best deal was Ebay. Also checked out Rockauto/ Amazone but Ebay was the best for me.
