Ok. so i have a 1995 mazda mx3 with the DOHC 1.6. I got a car wash and got some water in the engine bay. Bad decision i know... so its kinda miss firing as i leave. the typical water in the ignition situation. well now it has just died. it was starting sometimes but now it wont start at all. it was wierd because i drove it for some time with the wet ignition and it seemed fine like it was working its way out. but now nothing. it wont even pop when you turn it over. I put new ignition wires and cleaned the MAF sensor and have taken the cap and rotor off and dried them off well. they didnt even have any water in them. any ideas??

On a hunch as I've seen it happen before reset your ECU, remove the GND from your battery and hold the brake pedal down for 15 seconds the connect the GND and see if it'll start.

I will try that. just a quick update. so we tow started it and it started but it runs terrble. it will die the second you try to give it any gas unless you are real gradual with the pedel. tested for spark and its a nice strong spark.

If you've got a good spark then its likely to be either air of fuel related.

The way its miss firing so bad makes me believe its something to do with ignition. I think some water may have messed up the distributer. i checked the resistence between pin a and c on the coil plug and i got .98 ohms. this seems a little higher then it should be. can someone confirm that for me?
