Jeff Abrams MX-3 question (interior fabric mods)

Post by Juans_93_MX3 »

The MX-3 Jeff has on http://www.mazdamaniac.com/

I like what he did to the interior, with the sunbrella fabric. My question is, what exact sunbrella fabric did he use? I know its black, but if I wanted to order the fabric, do i go for the "Jet Black Awning Marine", "Canvas black" or what?

I want my seats to be just black. No blue

They told me they cannot do the SE seats because they are a little different, the seating area is different. But any colour of the patterns they have they will make for customers. I tried to get them to duplicate the SE seats but they told me it was too old and I would need to have them custom made.

Don't think they do just 92-93 and they are the American style.

see i like the stich pattern on the SE seats. just a little nicer. I am going to embark on doing my own seats... most of the fabric/leather used in these online kits look substandard and cheep to me. Just IMO. for 700 I can have a local seamstress do both, and even cheeper if i buy the fabric/ leather myself. But I am going to take a crack at it i think. if i screw up I will give it to the wife to finish :)

Josh,

I've been tempted to do the same. I am shooting for gray/black suede/leather for the seats, and gray suede for the panel inserts.

The leather they use is automotive grade, but I like the original myself and I'm getting a pro to match my OEM SE drivers to the passenger seat & back. Suede is a b---- to keep clean and leather wears really good, leather seats.com seats covers are decent my dad bought leather skins for his Lexus SC400 and they are identical to the originals.

Thanks Josh : :) I've been dead set on it since MoonEggs posted a picture of an EDM SE last year, I don't know where the picture wandered off to... The colors just fit the car, not to mention they're neutral enough that they won't repel most people's taste! :)

As for keeping the suede clean bbunker, I'm OCD beyond most people's imagining about my car's cleanliness. I've been lazy about cleaning the exterior for a month or so now, but the interior is spotless... It's cleaned weekly to keep it that way too. Just deep cleaned car #2 in fact...

WHAT!!!! Is this price in YEN?... you can get front seats for 500 USD and the rears for like 250-300. then the rest of the fabric for the doors and headliner you buy and do your self. very easy to do with basic tools.
