And I realized the little aftermarket support that used to exist for mx-3's is pretty much gone. All they have now is ms bumper, ms sides, bushings, clear corners, h & r springs & some struts. WTF, has the last 5 years really changed the number of mx'3s in existence that much? Maybe the mx-3 will turn into one of tthose rare covetted older cars that skyrockets in value like a volkswagon scirocco for example. I don't really notice seeing less mx-3s out there but I do see less for sale. All I know is I am going to take care of this one I have & try to get it to survive at least another 5 years so I can get some collector license plates on it.

I go to the pic n pulls here and see lots. There are a couple of minty looking units in my area but I never get a chance to say hi to them.

Not only that, I noticed that I can't even get basic mechanical parts for mine at the parts store, ie gaskets, sensors, etc.

Yea sometimes I will see a couple at the pick n pulls but they're always in terrible condition without any rare parts. Their are probably alot more up by you being in Canada. Its not just sensors & stuff you can't get anymore go to Mazda & ask them for just about anything body or electrical they won't have it or won't be able to get it. I want to buy more & hide them somewhere for another decade lol

Pretty much, they dropped off the face of the Earth really quickly. I almost never see one on the road anymore...I couldn't imagine if I still had mine on the road, the caliber in which it's done up and a car that you actually don't even seen on the road anymore. But the parts situation is part of the reason why I moved on. Man I remember the huge list of Mx-3 parts they used to have. They announced the drop back at New Years:

You will when mine is out!

I don't find that getting parts is a problem, especially when so many of our sensors, engine & suspension parts are shared by other cars.

I just saw your mx-3 for the first time nd4spd that was awesome , it just goes to validate my point I've been saying for years, whenever people from here get their cars looking aggood and driving great with awesome swaps & a laundry list of mods they total their cars or part them out after some sort of accident. Remember BabyBlueMx3 that one was my favorite. I like fowljesse's too I got to drive it it was pretty awesome. I'm going to just keep mine simple. I got sick of spinning #6 rod bearing in a ze 4 times now.
Back to Corksport:
So I bitched to them about cutting the mx-3 products this weekend since it was THEIR ORIGINAL CAR.
I got an email back today from Kelly over there about cutting the mx-3 products he just said its sad & he understands, then told me to buy some ms sides & a bumper while they have them

Dan, how many times do I have to tell you to avoid minty looking units!?

They're all gold diggers!

My friends and I have counted 23 MX-3s in my city and the surrounding cities/towns within 20 miles of here. I have seen a few minty GSs, and 2 or 3 VERY ricey RSs I won't even look twice at. Other than that, they're just so-so and not being cared for.
SuperK, it's good that you can laugh about it, it still sucks it happened though! You find a new one yet?

Stuff happens. At first I said I wouldn't be that person, the one to finish a car than sell it after, but technically I never finished the car, so I never was, heh, but sometimes you gotta look at things logically. What ended up happening is that the the valvetrain got messed thanks to a throttle cable that split and got stuck, bounced off the rev limiter several times. Had a crazy 2.5 build planned and most of the parts; just needed the stroked crank, 11.5:1 pistons and the Ferrea valves, but was still trying to work out getting the+1mm overbored valves, but many threads on ProbeTalk with some experts saying that there's no benefit to them. I was thinking of going with the tri-flow cams to fix that, or running only half +1mm on the 218* lobe, but I'll never know....Never got the CF hatch im and with a plexi window, never got a chance to do an electrically adjustable CF wing. When things were good I was seriously talking to Oscar to get CF fenders made and even had a price quote on them...
As I was working on the car and taking the motor out, I found rust hiding around, especially seeing carpet through the wheel well. After much though and figured that I still had to spend almost $10'000 in parts, about $5000 in machine and balancing work, and I STILL needed to including body work or the hard job of trying to find another one in good shape and swapping it all over, figured it was best to cut my losses and part her out. Bought the Rx-8 in cash with what I got for the Mx-3. I will always miss the Mx-3, but I didn't sacrifice much in performance, but I get way more open doors for potential and I get to do a few things on the 8 anyway that I didn't get to on the Mx3. I guess mostly miss the Mx-3 for what it was, the exhaust sound (I actually perfer the Xterra since I got a nice exhaust done this year, the rx8 still running stock), the stiff kidney-killing suspension, the flashy looks (CF hood, wing, gunmetal rims, underglow neons) and a nice sound system with a kicking subwoofer, and my staple CarPC with a 15" LCD.
It was also my very first car, great times, but I do look forward to outdoing the Mx-3 with the 8; Supercharged, Carbon Fiber EVERYTHING: front and rear bumpers, side skits, fenders, hood, trunk, wing, doors, pretty much anything that's removable, I'm not doing a CF roof, despite that you can actually get one from MazdaSpeed, but you never know, lol.

Please paint it to match the rest of the car...

Why would I want to do that? The rest of the car )a-pillars, roof and rear quarters) will be vinyl wrapped (to keep the mint paint intact) in Phamtom Blue Mica, is the plan anyway, and the rotary triangle on the hood will be Phamtom Blue Mica as well to flow with the roof. I had a few other ideas for partial paint/wrap, but I haven't though them through

So it matches...? I'm not a huge fan of two-tone, but I think intentionally doing partial CF and partial paint reminds me of this:
If you can do it and keep it clean looking... by all means do it, I just hate seeing cars that have two mods, lowering springs(with stock struts-.-) and a CF hood. So many people choose those 2 items alone, and even well built cars that look like that will be treated the same. Granted, it's your decision as the owner of the car; I'm just telling you how I perceive cars that look like that.

On a side note, isn't the RX-8 supposed to be near perfectly balanced corner to corner from the factory? If my memory of that is correct, don't you want to try and maintain that?
