Wideband o2 sensor

Ok i was thinking of changing my 02 sensor header with wideband.
The question is can the stock ecu handle the output voltage of this sensors?
I want to go with wideband cause in the faar future i am planning for a turbo bp...So instead of getting a narrow and after a wideband, why don't choose it from the beggining?
But can it work with stock ecu?

Probably I would look into a first. I would think all you would have to do is splice in the signal wire to the ECU. I know my wide band is plug and play with my stand alone. I dont see why it wouldn't.

I have heard that this sensors have output from 0-5v and stock ecus(i don't know about b6d) can't handle above 2v?Or somewhere in this range..
Did you replace a stock existing or did you put in a new o2 bung?

The stock ecu is calibrated with the stock narrowband sensors. Unless there's a narrowband emulation I can't see the stock ecu liking it as WB is 0-5v. Narrowband iirc is more like 0-1v. I'd just weld in another bung.

So from what you say stock ecu can not work with wideband..
And something else.some people replace it with the stock sensor position, some other put it in new place.
When you put it in a new place, you must disconnect the existing narrow sensor from ecu to wire the wideband?
Or you leave it as it is and splice the signal wire to ecu and work with narrow and wideband at the same time?

the wide band will be for your information only, the stock ecu will not and can not use it. You can use it with an aftermarket standalone or some piggy ems.

Exactly!

As far as i know in wot situation the stock ecu ignores the narrow signal. In closed loop the ecu takes order from the o2 sensor from 0-1v
When you use piggy back you can tune it in a way that you will work only with the wideband in open and closed loop or it is necessary to have the narrow band work at the same time?

I have a wideband o2. What I did was used the stock narrowband for the ECU, but welded in a bung a bit down from the narrowband (on the downpipe and not on the header) and installed a wideband there. The wideband goes to my gauge, and has a few wires that i can use for a datalogger.

You are using it only for information..Not to control the ecu.is the ecu stock?

Yeah I am keeping the narrowband o2 for the ECU. I can't confirm but I'm pretty sure the ECU can't read a wideband (unless you have an aftermarket engine management system that can)
