No Activity From Transmission

Hey i recently bought a 1995 mazda mx-3 with the 1.8 V6 and 5 speed. The only problem with this car seems to be in the clutch region although i am not sure. The car starts just fine when the clutch is depressed but as soon as i release the clutch the transmission grinds and will not stop until the cluth is again depressed. I tried this in all of the gears and nothing engages and again just grinds. Where would i be better to start looking to solve the problem? personally i think it has to do with the clutch buut again i could be 110 percent wrong. And being new to the mazda world i am more likely than not wrong. :?

Does it do it in neutral?

If it doesn't do it in neutral, your CV fell out of the transmission (incorrect CV, or broken)

Im currently looking for the passenger side halfshaft (cv shaft) and no parts store seems to be able to get it for me? Is there a reason for this? Every shaft they get me seems to be the shaft for the driver side

Hmmm, go look at a local Junk yard?

I was debating that but the closest junk yard to me is 3 hours away. I was hoping someone else was having the same problem. The shaft i have on the passenger side has two sections and bolts onto the engine block with an attached bracket. is this an aftermarket/ swap that was done to this car? or is it stock and the part stores are just getting it wrong?

I believe the passenger side (right hand side) Has a braket that holds a part of the shaft onto the engine block itself. Although I am not sure about it, I believe that it is the case.

You have to specify that its a K8 because the 4 cyls did not have the joint shaft.

Right, I assumed he was talking about the k8/Ze/De

Sorry for all the stupid questions as i said i have only ever dealt with ford or dodge. By telling them that it is a V6 would that not be implying that it is a K8? Or is K8 a completely different set-up? How do i find out about whether or not its a K8 or a ZE or DE? Also, there is a sticker that has been put on the back of the car that says "precidia" im unaware of what this means, but i tried telling that to the parts store desk watcher and he gave me a stupid look... not sure where that leaves me...

Well look pretty much everywhere on the body, ZE (KL-ZE) would be written kl31/kl01 on the engine block, pretty much everywhere, A DE, I dont really know, and the K8, well its the stock 1.8L V6 engine that came in the Mx-3

Precidia was the Canadian name for the car.

Cronos was the 626, Mystere was the MX-6, etc.

first indicator for the engine is the manifold...

Next is checking the backside of the front head for the codes.

K801
KL01
KL31

And then there is a stamp on the block, but its pretty hard to see, but the head codes pretty much guarantee it.
