Parts list for Suspension

Okay, so I pretty much know what I need to get to upgrade my suspension, but after looking on many sites, and searching these forums, I'm not sure if these "Mount Kits" come with all the pieces I would need to make my suspension complete, ie coil spring seat, thrust bearing, etc.

I'm gonna go with H&R springs and KYB struts.

I also know I need to purchase the dust boots. (3 sets of orders so far here)

So now if I get the strut mount kits, (gonna go with Monroe Kits part# 901963 for the rear & part# 902936 for the front) would there be any other parts I need to purchase separately? I wouldn't wanna get strut bearings or coil spring seats if they already come with the Monroe mount kit. If the Monroe kit doesn't come with everything else I need, is there a kit that does or do I just need to order these other pieces individually?

And I'm also aware that I'll need camber bolts for the re-alignment, but I'll get those after the suspension is installed. I figure I'd let the suspension settle in the car for a few days before I get an alignment.

All the parts you need are shown in these pages from the manual. My solution was to go to the local parts wrecking yard, find an Escort with lowish miles, disassemble the struts in the yard and take all the small bits I needed. I even found a nice couple of thrust bearings though I would recommend buying strut mounts that include new bearings like the ones you've listed.

As far as I know there is no kit that includes the bump stops, spring seats and everything. That's why I went and got everything used for $20. I've been on those used parts for 4 years now.

Had i not just cut up my bump stops for my home made coilovers i would have given them to you...

NAPA has a cheep polly bump-stop and dust boots kit. spring seats you would have to buy separately parts store or dealer. no kits that I am aware of either.

You probably will not need the camber bolts H&R's are a little lower than eibach's but you should be OK it puts is on the heavy side of OE specs as far as camber is concerned, especially if you are replacing the spring seats.

You are going with my personal favorite set up on the MX as far as bolt on suspension. Its a great set up.. what wheel and tire package are you going with? many think H&R's are too stiff but depends on if you are running 16's or 17's, coupled with KYB's makes for a solid ride.

also cheapest place i have found to buy from is SHOX dot COM look under escort.

gonna get the struts from amazon.com and springs from ebay. all other parts i'm gettin from rockauto, and I guess that now includes buying the springs seats (good to know). I used to have generic American Racing Rims and switched them in February for the 99-03 Protege rims

and new Falken Ziex ZE-512 tires

I'll probably get aftermarket rims sometime after I get a BP engine. :D
