Mx3 cv problem??

Im haven a problem. Ok so wen u do new cv axles I was reading in a chiltons that u have to put In some plug tool? Wondering how true this is or were to get said plug tool? If it is true where does the tool go? Bc I still have the old cv pieces in it until I figure out wats wat.

Errrrr...you mean CV Joint Puller tool???? Which is basically a slide hammer....

I wouldn't worry about the plug if I were you. It is supposed to go into the transmission in place of the axle shaft to keep you from losing all of your gear oil. It also holds all of the spider gears in place. I just get the new axles before removing the old ones and pull the old and put the new right back in.

Wow, they actually make a plug for that....guess I've never bothered considering I've always taken my axles out only when I have a new one to install right away. Maybe next time I'll try actually reading the manual instead of winging it....

No not a slidehammer i kno wat that is. Ok well the manual said it holds a gear up that's y I asked bc on my old tranny I fought the cv out n the end that goes in the tranny was chewed up n after that the tranny blew up. I never moved it to mess up the spider gears I had the new one ready wen I took the old one out too. But thats y I asked n thanks I appreciate the help
