stock coil springs

The mx3 that I am rebuilding has a broken coil spring on the front drivers side. I want to know if either the back drivers side coil spring is the same as the stock front springs or if the strut and spring assembly is compatible. I tried searching but only threads that showed up are S/R springs, eibach springs, coil overs, etc. Any help is appreciated

Not the same at all.

Chances are that the front springs are covered by a recall. Check your Mazda dealer, search on here for the exact recall number.

There is no recall on them, they are almost 20 year old springs. they are swappable left to right just not front to rear. your cheapest bet is to get a replacement would be from a wrecker or someone here on the board. If you purchase one from Mazda you should probably purchase two and replace both fronts. The price that they may be you might be better off buying an aftermarket set. I would try and find someone with a used good stock spring laying around.

If you live in the right area they are. I got mine done a few years ago, 1994 GS. Teal. New front springs with the anti intrusion plate.

MX-3 SUSPENSION:FRONT:SPRINGS:COIL SPRINGS Recall – ID# 19979

Description
VEHICLE DESCRIPTION: PASSENGER VEHICLES ORIGINALLY SOLD OR CURRENTLY REGISTERED IN THE FOLLOWING STATES: CONNECTICUT, DELAWARE, ILLINOIS, INDIANA, IOWA, MAINE, MARYLAND, MASSACHUSETTS, MICHIGAN, MINNESOTA, NW HAMPSHIRE, NEW JERSEY, NEW YORK, OHIO, PENNSYLVANIA, RHODE ISLAND, VERMONT, WEST VIRGINIA, WISCONSIN, AND WASHINGTON, DC. IN AREAS WHERE LARGE QUANTITIES OF ROAD SALT ARE USED, CORROSIVE PITS CAN DEVELOP ON THE SURFACE OF THE FRONT SUSPENSION COIL SPRING. REPEATED USE CAN EVENTUALLY CAUSE THE COIL SPRING TO BREAK AND A TIRE COULD BE PUNCTURED FROM CONTACT WITH THE BROKEN COIL SPRING.

Consequence
THIS CONDITION INCREASES THE RISK OF A VEHICLE CRASH.

Remedy
DEALERS WILL INSTALL A GUARD ASSEMBLY WHICH WILL PREVENT THE BROKEN COIL SPRING FROM CONTACTING THE TIRE. IN ADDITION TO PERFORMING THE RECALL CAMPAIGN, MAZDA IS EXTENDING THE WARRANTY COVERAGE ON THE FRONT COIL SPRINGS FOR THE LIFT OF THE VEHICLE. IF OWNERS HAVE ALREADY PAID FOR THE REPAIR OR REPLACEMENT OF THESE FRONT COIL SPRINGS, DUE TO ROAD SALT DAMAGE, MAZDA WILL REIMBURSE THESE OWNERS FOR REASONABLE EXPENSES.

Potential Units Affected
25000

Notes
MAZDA (NORTH AMERICA),INC

Thats an american version, but its all the same.

If you need, I have a set of like new front springs I could ship to you for $10 plus ship.

I will be looking into getting the frame straightened in the rear first. It has to go through inspections to be legal. I will let you know Ryan about the springs. I may have to do the front struts as well depending on the inspector. If that is the case I will be going with quick struts.

They may not believe you and you might have to argue it a bit... but give them that recall number and they may or may not feed you some BS.

But they did mine two years ago in Manitoba... didn't fix the tire the spring ripped open though.
