Excessive blow by - or something else? Oil in intake.

When fixing my misfiring problem (couple threads down) I took my air hose off and noticed it was soaked with oil, all the way down to the airflow sensor. The throttle body was also soaked with oil, the plate just coated in it. I took my PCV valve out and it still moves and rattles, but I'll be replacing it anyway.

Other than that, I'm guessing it's just caused by excessive blowby? The engine goes through a quart of oil every 500 KM or less. I thought most or all of it was from the valve seals, as it'll smoke like crazy after going down a hill and getting on the gas. I never see blue smoke behind me under normal hard acceleration, but I guess people behind me might.

Just wondering if there's any other reasons this engine likes to pour oil into the intake?

Edit: Is there a breather for the engine anywhere?

tis the PCV system. front and rear VC's are vented, and the PCV valve sucks.

Also, the EGR makes a mess of things.

burning oil is likely valve stem seals/valve guides, and rings too, depending on your compression numbers.

Yeah I havn't done a compression or leak down test yet. Valve seals are most likely gone.

I don't think this is from the EGR, that would be more of a dry carbon look wouldn't it? This was physically wet oil, not caked on or dry, but still wet to the touch. I'll have to check my venting.

I would install filter/moisture trap inline after PCV valve to prevent oil from contaminating intake

Get a PCV valve from a 94 supra turbo instead of the stock one, they are 1/4 the
price and much better quality.

OMG what blasphemy is this. Using a non Mazda part, Toyota no less. This is right up there with using a ZR1 Corvette oil filter. All I have to say is,,,good find. :D
