Does anyone else love driving in the fog?

Anyone else? :D

So, my friends think I'm slightly crazy because I love driving in thick, heavy fog. Living in Fresno, CA it is very common in winter time. It's just such a thrill. Adds something extra to the typical drive home. It's both exciting and scary. It's amazing how much you think you know a town, and when there is nothing to reference, how you anticipate a light that's really 100ft away and not 20ft away.

THough to be fair, I don't think I'd like to drive a road I don't know in heavy fog.

Know the road or not, a 150 lb deer through your windshield will kill you regardless.

x2 on that. We get a lot of fog where I live and I hate it, especially driving in mx-3 that has crappy stock lights and sits so low.

I recently drove though the heaviest fog I have ever seen: visibility less than 50 feet! I was headed back home from near San Francisico and it was on a main highway (5 North) but it really freaked me out... since you don't know what's coming or who's coming up behind you. The first fog patch was on a straight section, but the second fog patch was through Grant's Pass (really curvy section through the mountains)... not that great :?

The one good thing about it was I got to use my rear foglights (for their intended purpose) and as far as I know they were effective since no one ran into the back of me :freak:

I don't mind spooky fog covering the landscape but when you are driving in a 70 mph section of hwy... not a fun experience...

I actually know a girl who was involved in a low visibility accident...

Some moron had stopped (or been moving stupidly slow, its unclear) in the middle of the highway lane, no 4 ways, nothing. The car she was riding in plowed it at 100 kph. They managed to get out before the car burnt to the ground, but she'll be in a wheelchair for the rest of her life.

Who says that couldn't be you next time you're cruising through the fog "feeling on the edge".

i didnt mean to cause a stir. About the deer, we dont have any where i live, so i needent worry about them and when i do drive on the fog is usually very late at night because i dont trust other drivers' abilites in the fog. and finally, I really like driving in the fog in a place where I know like the palm of my hand (freeways excluded of course), because it feels completely new and different. I understand your concern, and thank you for it
