Will A Fidanza Flywheel bolt up to mx3 tranny???

I have done some research on a Fidanza Aluminum flywheel and have located a potential for my 4 CIL (1.6L) 16V DOHC MX-3

Fidanza does NOT list any flywheels that match for mx3's but they do have a match for a 1.6L 16V DOHC Mazda Mitata

it appears that the flywheel will bolt up to the mx3 engine but im just wondering about the fitment with the transmission???

does anyone out there have any info or experance with this, help/info would be greatly appreciated thank you very much :)

Would people really put a Fidanza on a B6? If you've got a BP project planned, keep the funds to get a flywheel for that. Especially since you'll need a g-series trans with it unless you want to blow up your f-series.

First of all, don't waste your money on this crap for a B6. BP or GTFO. We may as well make that our slogan for the 4 cyl guys. Yes, I know, some members have made impressive power on the B6, but honestly, no replacement for displacement. Not to mention the $300 it takes for a BP, to gain that base 0.2L and 40 HP, you can never get better bang for your buck with ANY modification.

So, spend what, $300 on a Fidanza for pretty much zero gain, or $300 on a (well chosen) junkyard BP for 40 ponies.

But, to answer your questions,

Depends what year Miata. 89-97 1.6/1.8, yes. Anything else, no.

Yes, B6 flywheels bolt onto a BP. Did it myself.

I normally argue with the philosophy of "Just swap it, it's easier", but in this instance I tend to agree. The low cost of the BP is my motivation for this exception to my normal opinion for swaps. If it was $250 for a DE, or $900 for a ZE, I'd say get the DE and build it. If it's ~$300 for a 40 hp bump, and the engine is tried and true, It's reasonable.

now i'm not positive on this since i haven't dealt with v6's much but i'm pretty sure the tranny for mx-6's/probes are the same as the mx-3's. (actually, i think the probes have a 28 spline count and the mx-3/mx-6 is 26? maybe i shouldn't have posted....)
and yes the protege, miata fitment is for a 4 cyl.
Weather or not it's a waste of money or not is really up to your or your budget but any weight /up-sprung weight loss is a good thing

this link is for 4 cyl stuff but maybe it can help?

kulluminati, the flywheel will be the same. Fidanza only made 1 for the K series, and it's identical between models.

The KL flywheel is 21 pounds(According to ProbeTalk posts), the K8 I believe was reported as 13-14 pounds, and I know the Fidanza is 9.x pounds. I've got one sitting in my attic with the rest of my parts right now, if you need a picture. :D
