Go to your local mazda dealer. Its free part of a rolling recall, you might have to leave it with em for a day but it wont cost you a cent adn they shouldnt give you a hard time cause theyll get paid from mazda usa to do it.

I already called them and they said that the recall/fix was already done to the car based on the VIN.

Tell them its a rolling recall and you ld be glad to call Mazda USA direct and file a complaint, its end of the year and any reputable dealer dosent want that kind of bad PR. And as ryan said the Drivers side is covered for multiple repairs not just one

Ok, here's the deal. I talked to Mazda customer service about the recall on the seatbelt. This recall/fix is only done once throughout the life of the car. BUMMER>>>> :(

Anybody selling a auto seatbelt assembly, driver's side?

I have emailed Mazda USA about the issue. I was reading the email from the dealer again and it seems that after doing the recall, an extended warranty on the part came with it and it already expired on my car.

Email say":

"Sorry Alex the recall has already been performed to your vehicle, they also offered an extended warranty for the parts replaced under the recall, however the vehicle age is far beyond the time frame the warranty was extended too."

I'll keep you posted

Hate to say it but theyre running a bus over you man. I just had mine in at Ontario Mazda in canadaigua NY for its second replacement this past summer and mines a 92 with 160,000, and it was done back when the car had 60k. I would ask the dealer to talk to their local rep and do a good will service as its a known problem and should be covered under recall. If not and you cant get someone to help you out, do a manual conversion and avoid the future hasle. Dont be afraid to print the recall info from the site main page and go down to that or a different mazda dealer and work with them face to face, its harder to turn someone down that way.

MAZDA-USA's response.......... :( :help:

Hello Alex,

Thank you for contacting Mazda Customer Assistance.

According to our records, your 1992 Mazda MX-3, Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) JM1EC4316N0124953 has no open Mazda Recall Campaigns or Special Service Programs at this time.

However, Recall 72803 for the Automatic Seatbelt was a Special Service Program that extended the warranty 12 years to have it replaced. This was affecting your vehicle in the past and that recall was performed and closed out 10/30/2000. That replacement that the dealership performed came with a Parts Replacement Warranty of 12 month/12,000 miles, whichever come first. Therefore, this warranty has expired 9 years ago and the warranty extension if it wouldn’t of been replaced was an extension for 12 years, which would have expired 06/16/2004.

Since our office is not technically trained, it’s difficult for me to speculate what repairs are needed. If you are having problems I recommend contacting your local authorized Mazda dealership to schedule an appointment so that they can inspect your vehicle and diagnose the problem.

Mazda relies on the factory-trained technicians at authorized Mazda dealerships to diagnose and repair concerns that may arise with a Mazda vehicle. If needed, each Mazda dealership has access to Mazda's Quality Assurance Department via a technical hotline. This is offered to each dealership should they need assistance from Mazda with diagnosing or repairing a Mazda vehicle.

For your convenience, I have listed your closest Mazda dealership:

PALM MAZDA OF PUNTA GORDA
1603 TAMIAMI TRAIL
PUNTA GORDA, FL 33950
Phone: 941-639-1155

You may locate additional Mazda dealerships in your area by visiting our website at www.mazdausa.com/MusaWeb/loadDealerSearch.action.

Again, thank you for contacting Mazda Customer Assistance.

I also emailed our local Mazda dealer and sent him a copy of the recall saying:

"In addition to performing this recall campaign, Mazda is extending the warranty coverage on the driver and passenger automatic shoulder belt rail and motor for the life of the vehicle."

Hope I get a positive response. I will be visiting a salvage yard this weekend to get the parts I need and I may include the seatbelt but I rather have it replaced under warranty.

Let's wait and see.

Email will get you nowheres, and again if your going to replace it get a canadian fixed belt in there. Otherwise print the notice from http://mx-3.com/recalls/seatbelts.php and take it in with you and make the service manager help you. Saftey recalls will be covered to save a companys rear in case of a lawsuit. Working at honda now and pretty much all our srs buckles are covered for lifetime and you have the backing of everyone on the site thats had it fixed multiple times already. Be sure to cite the recall number off to them when you show up so they know youve done your research.
