Cruise control not working

Hey guys, I just recently purchased a 93 mazda mx3 GS w/ the 1.8l and the cruise control doesnt work. Being this old, and not having the proper equipment to be able to talk to the computer...where do i start?

There's a diagnostic procedure in the online manuals for the cruise control computer

Check the switch on the steering wheel, that's usually the culpret.
