mx-3 1.6 and 1.8v6 front shock absorbers

I really don't know how they'r called properly,but I think you got the idea.
The thing is- today found out that both front absorbers are toast(I was trying to figure out,does the ultra-low front of my mx-3 is because of lowered springs(I was hoping that previous owner has cut them,so the car front would be lower).As I took all thing out and took off the spring,the absorber just slided into it's body(!!!). At the moment I can't afford to buy new absorbers so I was thinking- will the front absorbers fit from mx-3 1.6 doch(1994)? I think that engine weight difference aren't that big so it may work,but wanted to check out first. The winter is almost here and I can't put my winter tires on because they won't fit into arches(not enoug space in height). I really need to know this.
