Northern Minnesota First Time Mazda Owner

I bought this '92 Mazda MX-3 today as a new project.

It has the 1.8L V6 and a 5-speed transmission. Modifications done to it are a cat-back exhaust of some kind, Enkei wheels, lowering springs with some kind of "sport" shocks/struts, and a blown motor...

The plan is to put in a new motor, replace the brake rotors & pads, clean it up really good and drive it.

The car will likely be for sale before this time next year, but for now it'll be a fun engine swap project.

Also just wanted to say hi! I hope I can use this forum to gain knowledge about this car.

Another reason for purchasing it is because the company I work for is always looking for new cars to develop new products for. This is not a Spam, but just an introduction. As we work through this car modifying it and rebuilding it we will begin to offer electronics, audio and possibly some performance products for this car.

Hey, welcome kinda to my area... sorta.

We suggest poppin in the 2.5L motor, as it is a direct bolt in 30hp gain.

Aside from that... its your car, but I suggest losing the ugly wheels, bra, tacky pedals, ugly shift boot, (get your seatbelts fixed? Mazda recall), and perhaps pick up a pair of real rear mud guards.

Yay welcome to the forum.

I forgot about this thread, but I thought I might as well update this post. :)

A couple weeks ago we began tearing the car apart and getting rid of all the rubbish that was put in the car.

This is a list of parts that is getting pulled out of the car and thrown away!!

Streetglow light-up brake/gas/clutch pedals
Nitrous purge light up switch - runs lights
EL Wire accent around radio
Type R Racing seat covers and floor mats
F&F Tokyo Drift steering wheel cover
Nokia Old-School Hands Free Kit
Dual-Tone "Walmart" horn
4-horn air horn
Neon Underbody System
Night Rider "KITT" led module on front bumper
Front Bra
Lots of stickers
Neon lights under dash
.....
... [smiley=faint_1.gif]

Also the crappy Rockford Fosgate component speakers are getting pulled out. They sound like doo doo. (Worst sounding components I've ever heard!)

Tonight the windows are getting re-tinted also. The old tint that was put on looked like trash.

Enjoy!

OH SNAP!!

Found air horns and neon underglow too!!!

pulled the "Night Rider" LED module out of the front bumper. Wow.

This thing might have been totally cool about 10 years ago. But then again maybe not. :)

This was hooked up to a controller that would make the LED modules do different patterns:

worked on the car last night on the car until 2AM getting it all cleaned up and the windows tinted.

pulled out even more ricey crap under the seats, etc... more "tireflys" and crap just kept falling out from every crevice!! :)

Took the entire interior out of the car and washed it then reassembled it. Vacuumed the car and tinted the windows. Now it sits waiting for a motor this weekend:

Like I said in the original post I work for TLG-auto.com and we were going to figure out what LED and HID products we can come up with for this car so stay tuned. Some of that is happening today! :)

These are older posts from my local forum. We just did a basic swap and got it back on the road.
