Odd noise after recent brake change, left front wheel.

Hey guys, I recently changed out my brakes(first time myself, went quite well) and have had an odd noise pop up. It's not really a ringing, but it's a high pitched squeal, it just sounds more like ringing due to pitch. It's coming from my left front wheel, whenever moving(unless braking, then the sound is 100% gone).

If I could get a tentative diagnosis it would help a lot, I AM able to get an audio/video clip if necessary, but I would likely have to jack the car up to do so. It's hard to hold a digital camera out the window while driving, and the road noise wouldn't help much either.

Thanks guys!

If you can't hear it when cruising, just ignore it for a week, see if it goes away.

Did you replace all of the hardware? clean the slide pins? how about the (stupid) spring system?

I heard it any time unless braking, and I took it to les schwab for a free brake check haha. I was concerned that it might be wheel bearing related, but it wasn't quite the right noise.

Turns out, it was way simpler than I had thought. When I did the front brakes, my friend did the left side while I did the right... he didn't pay attention to how he removed the spring system, and needless to say he did NOT put it on properly... It was simply rubbing the rotor on about 2/3 of the wheel's rotation. I bought new pins and springs from autozone for a surprisingly cheap $5.99, and am swapping them out tomorrow.

I did clean it all by the way, I wire brushed the pins after soaking them in brake cleaner(Stuff's a miracle, I swear).

Thanks for the reply Ryan!! You were dead on for the cause of the problem!
