Ok, 1992 MX-3 4-cyl with A/C. When I start it first thing in the morning it fires right up and runs fine. But when i drive for about 10 minutes or more and shut it off it wont start for at least an hour. But, this is where it gets weird, push start it and it'll start right up and run fine. i can also let it sit in the driveway and idle for however long i want, then shut it off and she'll fire right back up. What is that all about? Another thing, the check engine light came on around the time this started happening but no codes come up on an ECU scan. Heres whats new since the problem started, alternator, battery, water pump, timing belt, ECU, MAF sensor and I think thats it. I would really appreciate any help at all. I am willing to try somebody's complete shot in the dark at this point. Thanks.

P.S. If i cant fix it in the next couple weeks its going up for sale. Any takers? Its in Oregon.

Maybe a clogged cat? When it heats up it expands and blocks the exhaust, when it cools it opens it up again?

sounds like intermittent electrical to me. Try another distributor.

Does the engine turn over and just not fire when you try to start it?

Yes, it will turn over with the starter. It just wont start. I was considering the distributor. I have seen on this site that people have had problems with the stock ones.

yes sounds like a distributor issue.
maybe even a faulty fuel pressure regualtor or solenoid.

Well thanks for the help. I will try the distributor and see if that does anything. I hope thats the issue.
