Stainless Steel Doorsills!

Post by MrMazda92 »

Hey guys, I've talked to a few of you about the stainless sills, and my potential for having them made.

I'm not ready to try a group buy, but I AM ready to take the idea to a friend who can make them.

Will my plastic sills be a suitable template? If not, what exactly would I need?

Also, if it pans out I will properly setup a group guy.

They are exactly the same other than material and the MX-3 logo on the SS ones.

Okay... since nobody seems to have any kind of template. :/

Would anyone be willing to send me ONE Stainless doorsill? I'll paypal you collateral, as long as it's reasonable. It'd be easiest if someone in Portland/Vancouver could loan me one, as I'll be up there tomorrow or the next day.

Bro the shape is exactly the same, you can use the stock one just get the MX-3 logo on there.

Is the thickness 100% matched? I would rather avoid paying for a few sets, then finding out our doors don't close properly, or some other unforeseen mistake. :S

I don't do anything half assed, it has to be 100%. If I do this, you won't know the difference between OEM and these.

Not sure what the problem is... if you use the stock as a template, you should have no clearance issues. Like _-Night-Shade-_ said, use the stock as a template and add MX-3 logo.

My SS ones are thin as s---. Like PAPER thin. But like above ^ stock plastic ones fit so you have some leeway to play around with. I myself would like if the SS ones were thicker to handle a little extra abuse.
Took the bp+t out of the mx and swapped it into a 95 escort wagon. ;)

I have an idea.

Who would like me to have them made the stock thickness with the Mx3 and nothing changed?

Put a 1 at the start of your reply if this works for you.

Who would like me to have them slightly thicker with the Mx3, no change besides thickness?

Put a 2 at the start of your reply if this works for you.

Who would like a change in the design, with added thickness and any other changes?

Put a 3 at the start of your reply, and post suggestions that you feel would be beneficial.

I dont care either way, I already have a set.

But, cant you add a poll to your first post with those options?

Thinner = Likely Cheaper, is this your logic as well?

You're correct on the polls too, that's why I didn't waste my time.
