Does anyone else have Gout?

So here I am...it's coming up on 1am and I cannot sleep because it feels like an imaginary meat grinder is grinding my big toe off. I don't want to come off as the "woe is me" guy...but holy crap! This is the worst pain I've ever felt. It actually feels like my toe has been crushed by a large hammer or something. Here's a fun little blurb about Gout...

"Gout pain has been called one of the worst pains a person can feel. Crystallized uric acid with hundreds of needle-like sharp points bury themselves in your joints so that the slightest touch brings a burning, stabbing pain. When the pain hits, all you can think about is how can you get rid of it."

Fun right??? Anyway...I had nothing to do but type for a few minutes. Hope everyone's having a better night than I am.

Nope, I most definatly do not have gout. So let me get this straight, gout is kinda like having a kidney stone in your joints??

kinda yeah...the concentration of acid in your blood gets too high and it comes out in your joints and forms these sharp crystals. And it hurts. I am very heavily drugged right now and it still feels like my toe is being crushed in a vise.

The ice helps to numb it a bit...but not enough to say...sleep. I can't imagine putting on a shoe right now.

Time to change your diet. Hope you like cherries, apples, bananas, limes etc.
Offset the diarrhetic effects with tylenol & codeine and you can kill two birds
with one pill so to speak.

Man it hasn't hit me in a couple of years and last night was the worst ever. Usually I can feel it coming and I just relax witht he alcohol and take a little blue anti-inflamatory and we're all good but this time was out of nowhere. I'm going to the doctor in a bit to hopefully get some cortizone.

Never had it, but it does sounds like it sucks pretty bad! Uric acid? Were you eating a lot of steak or red meat prior to this?

The only cure I know is to go to your car, start the engine, point the car in a safe direction then apply gouted big toe to accelerator and proceed to WOT. you've suddenly forgotten aout your big toe.

Fun little update...Gout has spread to my other foot. So now I'm hobbling on both sides.

Your sympathy is much appreciated. No seriously...it makes me feel better when people feel sorry for me. I'm a suck.

I'm sorry but I can't feel sympathy for you. Not after reading this.

Your hallux does of course have my empathy. :)
