Automatic Transmissions??

hello all, I am going to check out an automatic 1994 mx3 for my sister in the next couple of days and wanted to get some advice. 125k miles, water pump and timing belt was done about 10k ago. Ive owned 4 manual mx3, and a manual 626. At a local autobody shop I spoke with a former "mazda mechanic" who told me about some of the auto transmission problems in the proteges, 626's, and the like. I also searched on here and found something called auto box tranny problems?? Anyway I wanted to see if i should check this out and if the automatic transmissions have any known problems.
