CEL @ 140KMh

Post by Eckz »

I've had my MX3 since December 09

V6 1.8L 5speed w/ cruise.

While driving at highway speeds (sometimes in excess of 140KMh) I get a Check Engine Light, sometimes it flashes, sometimes it stays lit. I have a OBD reader, but never have it with me when it happens.

Mechanic friend says high speed misfire. Anyone have any other reasons / causes?

Mechanic is proly right.

What r u gonna plug in the reader while going over 140?? Lol. Even if the light went on then off it should still be saved in memory. Get the reader on there

Car doesn't give a rip how fast its going.

Its the RPM's and the load. Should happen in any gear at same rpm's under similar load.

There are soft codes that won't stay in the ECU. Try holding the rpm up for a few minutes and see if you can simulate the problem. Misfires can be a tricky issue. Google misfires as there's lots of info out there on that particular problem

I know you believe that you understand what you think I said but I'm sure you realize that what you heard is not what I meant.
