WILL 18'S FIT?

Post by Finch »

ok so im looking to buy a set of rims but i was thinkin i wanted 17's... but i found a set of 18's for a nice price. tire size is 225/45/18 - i have a set of 225-45-16's on right now and it fits. my mx-3 is lowered with tokico struts and b&g springs, 1.6 inch drop. anyone know if they'll fit or not?

15s & 16's all the way, you will find more than many problems using bigger wheels.

Comepare stock 205/55/r15 to what you are proposing to use...a very large difference in your speedo, not to mention you will most definitely have rubbing issues.

18s fill in the gab nicely but to be honest its over kill for the car, 17s are nice as well to help eat up that gap. But performance wise you'd be better off with 15s/16s

Recommended tire size for 18s is 215 35 18. I forsee issues with that tire size.

Don't get 18s.... Your call, but I think you may regret it

I had 215/35/18 with -35mm drop on my old Mx with no problems. But i think 205-215/40/17 with 40-45mm looks better..

When I got my car it had 215/35/18s on it and lowered -40mm with no problems. It drove ok, but the price of tyres at that size is daft. I'm on quite light 17s at the minute, looking for lightweight 15/16 now.

If you go with 17" go with 205 45 or 215 40. Those two sizes are safe and give alil more tire then 205 40

+1. bigger the rims, more low profile tires- feeling bumps and paranoid of blowing a tire. Cant blame ya, had 17''s they looked  ride was rough, back to stock 15s, smooth!
my .2

Ya 17's aren't so bad. Mx3 has a big fender well so its hard to fill correctly. 17" is ok, just make sure you get the right tire... A curve spoke 17 looks best imo
