The Following Words In Our Search Query Were Ignored

I'd like to use the search, and we, but over the last several months it seems to start rejecting terms, even if I add an author or forum section to refine the search query. I guess the database is getting too large, but it's getting hard to search now.

Terms rejected:
Turbo

Trying to perform a search, but some words I need to add get ignored and it give me way too many pages to go though. I understand if it was used my itself it may yield too many results, but should be allowed to be combined with other terms to narrow the field.

Terms rejected:
meet

Does it help if you search with a more complicated word, and then "search these results" with the rejected word?

No... sadly... that might make sense.

Terms Searched: 2.2 and 2.2L

Search neglects the . and searches for "2 2", which gets rejected for obvious reasons.

Annoying, and a big part of the reason noobs search once then post asking questions...

Indeed. Reason why I started this thread, since searching is very important do be able to do to find information. It's nice to preach to the n00bs to search, but if it's not working properly, than it's not serving it's function.

Terms Searched: turbo sohc

ignored: turbo

SOHC alone brings up 324 pages, it would really be nice to narrow that down....

Why does the search not like turbo?

Searching for "Turbo SOHC" should yield less results than just searching for SOHC" because I'm using more than one term to narrow the search, but it ignores one term "Turbo" because that single term yields too many results if searched on it's own, but I can't use it to narrow an existing field.

Finally? This thread I created is older than you're registration on the boards

I can find pretty much anything on here using the search. I only post on here when I find a hiccup in the Search system, so that it'll be recognized and hopefully fixed.

Web browsers do that, it's called "Favorites" or "Bookmarks" ;)

Honestly, any projects I have on the go, any information I wish to retain, I print it, honestly. Not everything stays on the net forever, or sometimes you lose part of the information (like pictures when they host goes down) or free hosted sites that disppear over time. I have a file cabinet dedicated for my car stuff, all my reciepts go in there, but there's sections for manuals, diagrams and one for just research info.

The brain has become a real good database for into. I may not be able to remember what I need, but 99% of the time I know enough to find what I was looking for.

If I run into this issue I try to recall authors that may have posted or other specific words that I remember from the conversation. I haven't ever had an issue not being able to find something I was looking for. Usually when I post I include key words that I can refer to later when researching things again. Yeah sometimes you have to get creative but it's not impossible
