Has anyone tried converting to AWD using a F40 G6 tranny?

How do you convert to AWD with a FWD transmissiom?

You can use any transmission with this kit:

Some guy apparently was trying to AWD a probe and mx-3 with a Pontiac G6 or Saab 93 AWD F40 transmission.

Interesting.

Basically, our cars share 90% of the same platform of the 323/Protege. Those that have done AWD have ALL used the AWD systems from 323/Protege, but it still requires some custom work.

No one to my knowledge had done an AWD swap with anything but. I know some people were looking into the G6 trans a while back as a stronger replacement, but if they succeeded I have no clue.

Cool, I didn't know that the 323/protege had AWD. Will the 323 5 speed awd bolt up to the KL?

Nope. That's 4cyl only. The only bolt-up AWD trans is from the AWD KL Capella but it's automatic only and in Japan only.

I believe you can use the G series front part of the case to match it to the rear end of the AWD box to get an AWD tranny on a K series engine...don't quote me on that, its here somewhere.

AWD tranny's are not very strong though, and its a hell of a lot of work to get everything to work correctly.

The next step up would be to use the toyota E183 setup with a BP. Some serious custom work though.

This thread is for FWD but I think some have/are doing it to BG chassis variants.
