What are you asking? Which pin?

If you're getting code 2, and your car doesn't start, you have a dead ignitor and need a new distributor, or to do the HEI mod.

Code 2 would be for crankshaft position sensor

code 3, then. I thought it was code 2 that was notoriously affiliated with the dreaded ignitor transistor...

Wiring up an older MSnS, can't get the MS to see a tach signal and it looks to have both recommend pullup resistor mods. One of the things we read was to tap directly into the NE1 off the disty rather than the harness at the ECU, but we have no clue on what is the "NE1" at the disty

Code 2 is crankshaft position sensor, which is the NE signal, which is pin D on the disty. (on the six pin connector, pin closest to firewall.)
Or is it the OTHER crankshaft position sensor?

That looks like the one on the belt side. But its just a 2 pin connector.... what is that?

NE1 is the camshaft sensor. There are two sensors in the disty, a 6 vane one and a 180deg one. It's the 180deg one you're after I believe.
I'm not sure how this differed with mx-3s or what year your're working on but:
This Megasquirt will be powered by a version 2.2 PCB and will not carry all of the extra features that the v3 boards have, but in many cases, a V3 boards extra features are not necessary for everybody. In order to use this, your car will REQUIRE the use of a 92-94 distributor. If you have a 95+ KL, you can still go this route, but you will need to purchase an older model distributor and move around 3 wires for it to work properly.
I'll check which wire my NE1 is at lunchtime and tell you the colour and the pin. Maybe even a photo
EDIT:
My wire colour is faded, looks purple and yellow maybe. I had better luck tapping at the disty too. 3rd from the back, or 4th from the front.
