[GI] Carbon Fiber or Graphite hood prop/ hatch prop.

Post by fowljesse »

EDIT: I thought the other material was fiberglass, but it's actually Graphite.

I made a hood prop for Moooneggs' car out of a high quality Carbon Fiber Golf club shaft. It works exactly like the OEM one. It pivots in the hole by the light, and latches into the rubber holder when the hood is shut. I tried to take pics, but they're not turning out well. I'll have my girlfriend get some pics with her digital SLR. I just wanted to see if anyone would be interested (assuming they look great). I would guess they'd be $40 for CF, and $25 for black Graphite. If you've got alot of C/F like Mark, this would really finish the look.
I originally got a Fiberglass shaft to hold up my FG hatch, and thought this would be great on Mooneggs' car in CF. Shipping would be cheap, too.

Code: Select all

Just in case anyone doesn't know, these are from used (but perfect condition) clubs. If they were new, they'd cost over $100, just for the club.

Now that it's dark out, maybe I can get some...
Be right back.

...Okay, I suck. This doesn't show much, but :shrug:

This shows that there's a bit of Titanium on the end so the CF doesn't get screwed up when you put it in the prop hole;

I'll get better pics soon.

Cool.
I'm off to the supplier!
If anyone wants the original crazy bend in the top part, so it holds the hood the same way, I can Epoxy it into the shaft, and I reckon it would cost another $35.
